Yourminis already adopts Apollo!

Yourminis - one of the more popular widget collection sites on the web, has announced (http://blog.yourminis.com/2007/03/desktop_widgets.html) support for Apollo - thus taking their widgets to the desktop. Heck, they even changed the site slogan to "widgets for your blog, website, and now...desktop!" You can visit your minis at http://www.yourminis.com/main. It's nice to see such early adoption, and the overall press coverage I've been watching for Apollo has been very good.

So what do I think of Apollo? I've been playing with it, and so far I like it a lot. Adobe got it right, where others so far have failed, in allowing developers to program Apollo applications using web development skills they already possess. If you know HTML and JavaScript you can build an Apollo application. If you know AJAX or download some cool widgets from somewhere, you can build even cooler Apollo apps. If you also know MXML and/or ActionScript then Apollo allows you to take those skills to the desktop, which is mighty powerful!
